“Mirrors are magical objects.”
I can’t agree more – there is a lot of mystery around a mirror, that may never be revealed.
But where do I see myself best? When do I really see a reflection of myself?
The answer to the above didn’t come really easy, but it was such a significant moment when it actually came, that I guess I will remember it forever.
Two events happened that day:
- I was out on a rainy walk, getting gradually soaked by the light drizzle, thinking and reflecting and looking at the wet tiles underneath my feet..
- I was in, taking a quiet bath, thinking and reflecting and looking at the small waves on the surface..
And that was it – the answer was the water! Eureka! I silently exclaimed, in a situation so similar to Archimedes’. I know my discovery wouldn’t be as grand and impactful as his, but in that very moment it felt absolutely special. And it made so much sense.
I have always loved being around bodies of water – the sea will captivate me, the river would make me curious, a lake would make me calm, a waterfall will purely excite me! And the rain, oh how I love the rain that makes my mind go wild! And of course, indoors a long shower or a bath – all these being triggers that are making me mindful and present and able to see myself.
Maybe it didn’t work that well for Narcissus, but hey – this might actually be the oldest mirror known to humanity (and for sure some animal species). And here I am – just another representative in the line.
